Dear Governor Boyet,
We have arrived in New Delhi and tomorrow morning we will be off to central part of India on a medical mission joining a group of 18 Rotarian medical doctors to serve "hands-on" for 7 days. Thus it will be another 8 or 9 days before I get back to my home town Chandigarh. But I don’t want to wait that long to write to you and am taking the first opportunity of expressing our deep feeling of gratitude to you for a great time we had at your District Conference in Manila.
Now quite a distance from you in physical sense and the conference also well behind us, we still seem to be mentally surrounded by the ambience that had reigned for 3 days when we were with you. What a memorable trip we had!
Reflecting upon your conference, you truly achieved some high points. The overall programme was well balanced with very good speakers, amongst whom Governor Grace M.Padaca was simply outstanding. The wide screen with audio visual was of international standard which captured the attention and appreciation of all who were present. The entertainment aspect was also well taken care of with the participants fully enjoying every component. The interludes between the speaking slots were very interesting. Of course, the black and white "hands display" presented by the children of the Missionary School was totally new for us and we felt that it was super. In totality, Usha and I felt enriched by our participation at your conference as must have been the experience of all other delegates.
I must make a special reference about the projects display exhibition. We were impressed by the number of activities and programmes being undertaken by the clubs. Not that all the clubs were exhibiting their achievements, those who did had great stories to tell.
It was an honour for Usha and me to represent R.I. President D.K.Lee and his wife Young Ja at your conference. We felt that we were amongst our own people and it was truly a home coming for us in many ways.
On a personal note, Usha and I want to thank you for the personal care and kindness with which you looked after us. Your hospitality was just marvelous and we have no words to thank you enough. Right from our arrival at the airport till our departure PRID Paing and you took extremely good care of us. Whether it was our diet requirement or any other need, everything was top rate. I particularly wish to thank you for giving us the pleasure and privilege of having Paing and Mely by our side helping in our participation at your conference and making our stay most comfortable.
Looking at such long list and my this long letter I know I must have forgotten many items which may not have been mentioned but I can assure you they did not go un-noticed. And we are ever so grateful to you for them.
We also have to acknowledge many of your gifts. Number one is the friendship that you gave us so generously. And then knowing Sonie was a special pleasure. Please do convey to her our deep appreciation for all that she did for us. The "Mother Of Pearl" jewelery box and the appreciation certificate in "MOP frame" will always remind us of your Discon, appropriately named "Dreams Work". Yours and Sonie's contribution of US$ 10,000 each for the Foundation were yet another most welcome gifts. This demonstrated your qualities of leading by example.
To your team members I extend my most sincere compliments and congratulations for accomplishing a great event. Your host club also rose to the occasion. Please do convey my and Usha's grateful appreciation to each and everyone of them for the kind courtesies they extended to us.
Finally, I made a request to you to send me all the statistics of your conference such as attendance at each session, number of clubs attended, number of Rotarians and guests participated, etc. I had given you the complete list of what I will appreciate to have from you. Although not strictly required I will like to add this information to my report to the R.I. President.
Dear Governor Boyet, you have a beautiful family. Please take care of it as you already are doing. You are also taking care of the Rotary family in your district extremely well. You gave them a great conference and as you come towards the completion of your year you will give them a sense of fulfillment.
Usha joins me in sending to Sonie and you our warm personal regards,
Yours sincerely,
