Rotary International District 3830 is among the 10 Rotary districts in the Philippines under Zone 7B of the current RI zoning structure. D3830 is composed of 71 clubs with more than 2,000 active members covering the areas of Makati (33 clubs), Las Piñas (7 clubs), Alabang-Muntinlupa (8 clubs), Parañaque (16 clubs), Taguig-Pateros-Rizal (6 clubs) and Palawan (3 clubs).
"District 3830 became a separate administrative territory of Rotary International on July 1, 1999, covering the cities of Makati, Taguig, Pateros, Paranaque, Muntinlupa and Las Pinas, and the province of Palawan. It was carved out of District 3810 that now covers the cities of Manila and Pasay, and the provinces of Cavite and Mindoro Occidental." (From District 3830 History by PDG Sonny Coloma)
For this Rotary Year 2008-2009, under the leadership of District Governor "Boyet" Limon, District 3830 is geared up to pursue service projects focusing primarily on children’s health, education and well being, and the protection and preservation of the environment to help secure our children’s future. This is in conjunction with this year’s 2009 Rotary International Theme “Make Dreams Real” espoused by RI President Dong Kurn “DK” Lee.
As DG Boyet said: "Rotary’s ideal is a great cause – perhaps the greatest cause any man can pursue for the good of humanity. For there is no greater cause than to serve others above one’s self."
"The strength of the Rotary movement is built upon strong and effective clubs. Strong clubs make Rotary strong. A strong district with weak clubs does not. A Rotary District exists solely to help the Rotary Club advance the object of Rotary and should not diminish services provided by Rotary Clubs and individual Rotarians."
This year, D3830 aims to to attain the following hallmarks of strong and effective clubs:
FIRST SIGNIFICANT MEMBERSHIP GROWTH
SECOND MEANINGFUL SERVICE PROJECTS
THIRD IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE ROTARY FOUNDATION
FOURTH COMMITTED LEADERS THAT WILL BE SERVING BEYOND THE CLUB
FIFTH WELL GOVERNED CLUBS THAT ARE ACCOUNTABLE TO THEIR MEMBERS AND
COMPLIANT WITH RI POLICIES AND GUIDELINES
With everything in place, District 3830 is all set to Make Dreams Real this Rotary Year. |
