It all started at the South Forbes Driving Range in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, where the club presidents started discussing about possible “Make Dreams Real” projects that they can work on together.  They are as follows:

Pres. Alice of RC Taguig West took charge of preparing the project feasibility and other documents required to request for the Malunggay seedlings from the District Office.  Having satisfied the requirements through the assistance of district officers SAG Edna Sutter and DCC Mon Veluz, the request was approved  for 2,000 seedlings.  Out of which, 250 were spared to support the request of Pres. Jenny Rojales of RC Makati Jose P. Rizal.

The target areas for the tree planting were San Teodoro  Elementary School (c/o Principal Anastacia Mendoza-Manalo), Balayungan Elementary School  (Principal Josie Gan Cayco), Pantihan Dos Elementary School (School Head Ruby Ann Nuestra), San Juan Elementary School, Cardona, Rizal, Maragondon 3 & 4 and the City of Taguig.

As scheduled, the group went to the San Teodoro Elementary School in Mabini, Batangas on Oct. 24, 2008 together with a mobile x-ray courtesy of PP Puno Peña of RC Makati, for the group’s book donation, feeding and x-ray examination activity.  The school’s teachers and students prepared a short program to the delight of the visiting Rotarians.

On Oct. 27, 2008, the group visited the Balayungan Elementary School and Pantihan Dos Elementary School where they also conducted Malunggay tree planting, Ovaltine feeding and book donation activities.  The very warm welcome by the children, teachers and even by the DepEd supervisor, Olivia, made it all worthwhile and fulfilling.  The short ceremony gave the Rotarians the opportunity to express their appreciation to the school officials for accepting their services for the children’s benefit.  The food was served with much love that words cannot express how very much the recipients were touched for being chosen as the beneficiaries of the Rotary project.

They also showed the visitors around the various school facilities. The Rotarians immediately felt they have to do something to improve the school facilities if they are to expect better education for the children.  Items like computers, books, an air-conditioner and a dental chair will surely help a lot.  The club presidents decided to hold an ocular visit in Cardona, Rizal on Nov. 4, 2008 for possible installation of air-conditioner and the donation of computers and books for the school library, while conducting another Ovaltine feeding and Malunggay tree planting.
