DG Boyet Receives RI Award for Membership Growth

RI District 3830 Governor Edgardo 'Boyet' Limon was conferred an award by RI President DK Lee for his significant achievement in Membership Growth and Development. DG Boyet chartered 11 new clubs and increased membership of the district  by around 800 new Rotarians thereby  surpassing his target by over 300% . District 3830 covers the area of Makati , Alabang, Taguig, Parañaque , Las Piñas, Muntinlupa and Palawan.

With this stellar achievement, he was honored by RI during the Rotary International Convention at Birmingham, UK, as one of the 12 district governors worldwide who received achievement awards last June 23, 2009.

Four of the awardees are District Governors from the Philippines.  Governor Boyet  stood proud onstage as a Filipino, together with his fellow awardees DG Josie Ang of  D3810, DG Jess Nicdao of D3890 and DG Rhia Abalos of D3870.

Rotary Year 2008-2009 marks two milestones of achievement for the Philippine Rotary.  It is the fist time that four districts received membership awards from Rotary International in the same year. It is also during this Rotary Year that the Philippine districts altogether gave the biggest contribution to The Rotary Foundation.  Indeed a momentous year for the Philippine Rotary.

Gov Boyet Limon as chairman of all 10 incumbent Philippine District Governors, together with his DG classmates feel proud of these many accomplishments.

Message of Thanks

In his email message, Gov Boyet said, "In behalf of our very hard working Real Good Presidents, I would like to thank all of you will all sincerity and gratitude for making this award a meaningful one.  You, my fellow Rotarians, made this possible through your hard work and unwavering commitment to the ideals of Rotary.  Together, we made D3830 the premier district in the land. Together you make us proud to be Rotarians.
 
"Please allow me now to share with you what RI President DK Lee told me during the awarding onstage and I quote:

'Gov. Boyet, please extend to your District my heartfelt appreciation for supporting RI's thrusts not only in child mortality, but also in membership development and contribution to TRF. The global growth in membership came mainly from Asia and the Philippines. As Chairman of 10 Districts in the Philippines, your huge contribution to the TRF, is now the highest in the history of Philippine Rotary. In appreciation, I have selected you to personally accompany me to Tanzania this January, when we inaugurate the hospital which RI built. Please extend  my warm regards to all our friends from D3830:  Thank you.'
 
"I would also like to thank and congratulate all the 11 new clubs that we have chartered, the last being the RC Guadalupe Nuevo. Thank you very much.
