Profile: District Governor Edgardo "Boyet" Limon
PDG Sonny Coloma, RC Alabang
D3830 Chair, Training (Rotary Academy)
If he were to be invited to join a Rotary Club today, his classification could either be Telecommunications or Education. He is President & CEO of the only enterprise that can claim as its primary customers the two leading telecommunications giants in the country today, PLDT-Smart and Globe. He is also Chairman and CEO of a holding company that includes an educational institution in southern Metro Manila. Or he could also credibly hold a classification in Finance, Banking and Investments as he began his professional career with Citibank and recently served as President of the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (Finex).

His Rotary service record is impeccable. He served as District Conference Chair even before he served as President of the Rotary Club of Parañaque South. When he served as Club President in RY 1998-1999, his club was adjudged as a Most Outstanding Club. He shepherded the District Centennial Projects committee during Rotary’s centennial in RY 2004-2005 and served, too as Presidents-Elect Training Seminar (PETS) Chair for the incoming centennial presidents.
When he served as Chair of the Council of Equals (COE), the organization of past club presidents in District 3830, he actively promoted the development of small and medium enterprises as a driver for national economic growth
The call for him to serve as District Governor came at a particularly challenging period of his life. He first heard it at a time when his spouse was critically ill; he needed to respond to it by attending the meeting of the District Nominating Committee days after his wife’s death.
Edgardo “Boyet” Limon was elected as District Governor for RI District 3830 at the Rotary International Convention that was held in both Sweden and Denmark in the summer of 2006. Indeed, this was a fitting venue as it was in Scandinavia, not too far from Finland, the country that gave the world Nokia --- a global brand that Boyet Limon introduced to the Philippines in the mid-nineties. Today, he also heads the Philippines-Finland Society.
As District Governor, he is determined to expand the capacity of Rotary to serve. New clubs will be formed and existing clubs are called upon to tap new talents. He is also waging a massive campaign to increase contributions to The Rotary Foundation. His passion is to make District 3830 the premier district in Philippine Rotary --- a lofty stature it once enjoyed while still part of the erstwhile D-3810 that became the largest Rotary district in the world in terms of membership and number of clubs.
Ten years ago, when he served as Club President, the RI theme was “Follow Your Rotary Dream.” Today, as he prepares to serve as District Governor, the RI theme is “Make Dreams Real.” Indeed, he is a leader who is both a visionary and a builder. He is a dynamic go-getter who pursues goals relentlessly.
Incoming (now serving) Governor Boyet Limon will most certainly lead his Presidents and District Officers in following their Rotary dreams – and in making these dreams real, no not just real, but real good. Indeed, the best is yet to be for RI District 3830! |
