Among the highlights of the program were the recognition of 18 new Paul Harris Fellows, the club’s first batch for the year, who were introduced by PDG Tony Quila, and Pres. Larry’s inaugural speech, essentially a self-introduction that also provided an outline of his plans for the year.
The event also occasioned the renewal of ties with 17 of the club’s matched clubs: 4 Sister Clubs - RC Itako-Japan, RC Kota Kinabalu-Malaysia, RC Sydney-Australia and RC Bukit Bintang-Malaysia; and 13 Brother Clubs - RC Baguio North, RC Bay, RC Boracay, RC Calamba, RC Dagupan, RC Dau, RC Davao, RC Gumaca, RC Laoag, RC Naga, RC Central Pampanga, RC Midtown Tarlac, and RC Vigan.
Entertainment was provided by the Ateneo Glee Club and a dancing couple who interpreted the new club president’s favorite song, “House of the Rising Sun,” while the Spirit of ’67 Band played music to dance by. By tradition, the evening was capped by a late-night repast hosted by Pres. Larry & Ann Tere. |
