FEED THE MIND, FEED THE MALNOURISHED
July 25, 2008

The officers and members of the Rotary Club of Las Piñas South, in coordination with Barangay Pamplona Dos Chairman Robert Villalon, recently held a fund-raising event for its feeding program to benefit the impoverished children of the said Las Piñas Barangay.  The occasion also served as an innovative way of recruiting new members by letting them witness how Rotary serves the community.

The fund raising event proper

A promotional campaign was conducted for one month by all RCLPS members and officers, which culminated at Cecille’s Restaurant last July 25 where donors gave P1,000 each.  They, in turn, were given certificates, gift items and a hearty buffet dinner.  The event raised a net of about P10,000 and recruited 3 new members.  Part of the proceeds will be used to fund the continued expansion of the RCLPS monthly feeding program.

SAGIP ILOG - CARBON FILTERING
July 4, 2008

The members and officers of the Rotary Club of Las Piñas South installed last July 4 a carbon filtering device at the Las Piñas River which aims to clean the river’s dirty waters.  The project was conducted with the generous support of PP Hiro Oba of RC Makati and the Japan Rotary Club of District 2840, the donor of the device.  The service activity is also in support of the Sagip Ilog project initiative of Congresswoman Cynthia Villar.

The RCLPS project team

The Japanese donors have chosen Las Piñas River as a pilot project since the donation of the carbon filtering device will extend  to other polluted waterways in the country to help clean and protect the environment.
