Pilipinas MDIO Holds First Turnover and Induction

The Pilipinas Multi-District Information Organization (MDIO) held its First Turnover and Induction ceremonies last August 8, 2008 at Citimotors, Makati City. PDRR Devie Ontolan of D3780, founding chair of MDIO, relinquished the chairmanship to IPDRR Melchor Encabo of D3810, while IPDRR Joannie Sitoy of D3830 will serve as the Secretary of the council for this year.

DRR Cathy Gonzales and IPDRR Joannie Sitoy, together with Directors Aldrin Buelo and Roy Bautista, joined Rotaractors from the other Philippine Districts in welcoming the new set of officers of the MDIO Council. Also gracing the event were Rotarians from different districts namely, SDG Edison “Magic” Ong of D3810, PP Andy Abuso of D3820, and DDCC Jojo Josol of D3830.

Pilipinas MDIO was approved by Rotary International in 2007 initially with Districts 3780, 3810 and 3820 as members. Currently, the group is awaiting for the formal approval of districts 3790 and 3830, while other Districts are in the process of completing their application requirements.

The MDIO is formed to enable participating Districts to promote information through maintenance of a Website, distribution of newsletter, and other information services to promote Rotaract and Rotary activities.

MDIO also allows the conduct of joint service projects amongst member Districts. Some of the projects conducted by MDIO include outreach activities at the Chosen Children Village in Silang, Cavite, the First Magic Badminton Cup, the 40th World Rotaract Week Celebration last March 2008 and the DRR’s training held last June in Subic.
