The participants of Palawan DISTAS 2008 loudly rang bells of support to DG Boyet’s focused programs for RY 2008-09. In his message, DG Boyet summed up these programs under the rallying call of CHIME for Good Citation which stands for child, membership, environment, Foundation contribution, good governance of the club, and citation from RI; emphasizing the lead role of Palawan in the environmental protection. |

The Palawan DISTAS was held at the Asturias Hotel of Puerto Princesa City last 16 August 2008. Hosted by Rotary Club of Puerto Princesa (RCPP), the one-day event included presentations by guest speakers Dr. Alvin Timbancaya of the city’s MMG-Cooperative Hospital and Atty. Gerthie Mayo-Anda of the Environmental Legal Assistance Center. They provided valuable insights and inputs to the districts programs for child health and environmental protection.
As a result of the discussion following Atty. Anda’s presentation, an environmental summit was proposed to be hosted by the District and RCPP slated tentatively in the first week of December. DG Boyet formed the Super Task Force composed of the three Palawan club presidents, AG Bobby Castro, PE Eric Yayen and RCPP’s Chairman for the Save the Planet Committee, Rtn Lito Alisuag. The group is tasked to work on the details of the summit’s program, preparation, coordination and other requirements of the project.
In between lectures, RCPP together with DG Boyet, turned over mooring buoys to Atty. Gerthie Anda for the Pambato Reef at Honda Bay and seven wheelchairs to recipient beneficiaries identified by RCPP.
This year’s DISTAS in Palawan was well-attended with 40 Real good Presidents and district Officers from Manila, 21 members of RCPP headed by Pres. Roh Sarra, 5 from RC Narra with Pres. Rogel Sagad and 14 from Narra-Central led by Pres. Manny Tan-Paredes. Also in attendance were 4 prospective charter members of a club for extension at Brooke’s Point. |

FELLOWSHIP AT LU-LI ISLAND
The build-up of excitement and energy permeating the party of DG Boyet exploded in an all-time fun and abandon at the beach. The group traipsed through the fine sands of the island, which was still submerged in thigh-high water. But, after a sumptuous early lunch of “lechon-hubad” and seafood galore, the water subsided and we all trooped to the far end of the sand bars for video and photo shots. |

| The group really knew how to have a good time, and the gratified host, RC Puerto Princesa bids all “Kambak-kambak”! |
