RC Parañaque Metro South Goes Green September 30, 2008, Parañaque City
By Rtn Bren Del Rosario, RC Parañaque Metro South
The Rotary Club of Parañaque Metro South (RCPMS) conducted another environmental project in one of the subdivisions along Dr. Arcadio Santos Avenue (formerly Sucat Road) in Parañaque City, last September 24, 2008. According RGP Pol, the club took advantage of the rainy season to plant trees this time for better growth.
With his usual boundless energy, Real Good President Pol Casale led the “green-minded” RCPMS Rotarians at the Garcia Heights Subdivision where they planted, at least, 150 palm tree seedlings around a vacant lot near the subdivision’s club house. The seedlings were donated by PP Jac Cabatuando, himself an avid environmentalist and takes pride and pleasure in nurturing different varieties of trees and ornamental plants.

The Rotarians were joined by the homeowners’ association and officials from Brgy. San Antonio, who later expressed their appreciation on RCPMS’s show of concern for the environment. “Hindi lang pala pagtulong sa mahihirap ang ginagawa ng Rotary, pati sa pagtatanim ng puno - sa environment na rin,” one of the homeowners’ officers was quoted as saying.
Both RGP Pol and PP Jac agreed that planting trees is relevant and necessary nowadays. Trees help in minimizing air pollution by absorbing carbon dioxide from the air and expel clean oxygen in return.
