Education - we have LIFT OFF!

RC Makati North’s (RCMN) Pres. Klink Ang launched the club’s Book Drive and Reading Corner project in a turnover ceremony at Barangay Singkamas, Makati City last Oct. 8, 2008.  More than 300 books from kinder to high school levels were donated to the small but functional Rotary Community Corps (RCC) library at the Barangay Hall.  The project is part of RCMN’s Education for the Youth program.

Together with Pres. Klink were RCMN Dir. Bench Sy-Chu and Rtn Ian Alas.  The event was made more meaningful by the support of the Inner Wheel Club's "Sa pagbasa, May Pag-asa" program whose members, headed by IWC National President Vicky Magadia, were present.

Also present were IWCPI District 381 Chairman Cora Tan, Pres. Menchu Esteban, PP Daisy Dela Torre and IPP Cynthia Magdaraog.  The visiting rotarians and IWC members were enthusiastically welcomed by Brgy. Singkamas RCC Pres. Carmelita Pacibe, Barangay Chairman Betty Ison and the Barangay Council Kagawads.

During the turnover, the Rotarians and IWC members present can already imagine children sitting on the colorful chairs and tables enthusiastically reading books, gaining knowledge, and feeding their soul in the process.  There is no better gift we can give to our kids.

RCMN will start the “Reading Corner” in two weeks where Rotarians and Anns will conduct book-reading and story-telling sessions for the young children of Barangays Singkamas and Sta. Cruz.  So, stay tuned!
