By Pres. Lenny Carillo, RC Rizal West

The Rotary Club of Rizal West (RCRW) successfully launched this year’s edition of Project BRYDGE (Better Roads for Youth Development and Gainful Employment) with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement with project partner Asian F & B Training Center at Bistro Remedios, Malate, Manila, last Nov. 6, 2008.  RCRW was represented by its members led by Pres Lenny Carillo and ably supported by PDG Jimmy Cura and PP Nash Pablo.

Now on its 6th year, Project BRYDGE is RCRW’s flagship vocational service program that provides 3-month training to out-of-school youth on various skill areas within the hotel and restaurant industry and guarantees employment to its graduates.  Their training expenses are shouldered by RCRW and Asian F & B Training Center facilitates their employment.  The project is supported by a funding from Matching Grant No. 65118 of the Rotary Foundation and also supported by RCRW’s sister clubs.

A total of 26 scholars have already been approved for admission to the program this year, out of the target 60 students.  So, scholarships are still open to young people aged between 18 to 25 years old who are, at least, high school graduates and, preferably, from indigent families from Taguig and Pateros, RCRW’s service areas of concern.  They will start training in January 2009.

Project BRYDGE is RCRW’s lasting legacy and a gift for a lifetime, to make dreams real for our youth.
