RCPMS is making the Yuletide season more colorful for its adoted communities with two service activities in December, and its own club celebration more meaningful and fulfilling.

Medical Mission

The Rotary Club of Parañaque Metro South (RCPMS), in partnership with PAL (Philippine Air Lines) Foundation Inc., conducted the club's second medical mission last Dec. 6, 2008 at the Our Lady of Peace Parish Church (OLPPC) Multi-Purpose Hall in Bgy. San Antonio, Parañaque City.

The beneficiaries of the mission were mostly babies as young as 2 to 3 weeks in age, many having coughs and colds.  PAL Foundation consultant, Atty. Jac Cabatuando and RCPMS Pres. Pol Casale led the outreach program.  As part of the club’s community and health services program, RCPMS Rtn. Eli Bercasio is now conducting free medical service every Saturday afternoon.

RCPMS also turned over 2 wheelchairs to beneficiaries Carlos Isada, 56, of Lower Barangay and Angel Eva, 82, of Pascual Compound.  The wheelchairs were donated by RC Makti West form its TRF-funded “Wheelchair Project” under Matching Grant No. 64686 in partnership with RC Foster City California, USA and The Wheelchair Foundation, in support to the club’s “Tulong, Gabay at Alalay.”

Pamaskong Handog 2008

On Dec. 10, 2008, RCPMS successfully held its “Pamaskong Handog 2008” with beneficiaries of, at least, 80 children also at the Our Lady of Peace Parish Church.  Formerly dubbed as “Ikaw, Ako, Ngayong Pasko,” RCPMS’ Christmas celebration for the year 2008, the Yuletide outreach activity covered not only persons with disabilities (PWDs) students of the Fourth Estate Elementary School’s Special Education (SPED) class, but also children under “Hapag-Asa” feeding program of the club.

OLPPC parish priest, Monsignor Melchor David lead the invocation to start the day’s program of activities.  Each child received a bag of goodies, including a pair of shoes.  Those belonging to the SPED class received an additional “I love RCPMS, I love Rotary” t-shirts.

Real Good Pres. Pol Casale, CP Benny Hilario, PP Dante Hernandez, Rtn. Larry Bonsol and other Rotarians brought bags of toys, which were given as special prizes.  A special dance number was performed by the SPED students, adding fun to the celebration.  The children were served snacks after the program.

SPED class and Hapag-Asa representatives each gave a message of thanks to RCPMS for giving time, attention and happiness to the children, not only during Christmas but the whole year round.  RGP Pol and President Elect Art Cabrera wished everyone a very happy Christmas and promised to organize more programs to extend assistance to the children.

Later that night and as planned, a different RCPMS Christmas celebration was held at President-Elect Art Cabrera’s residence in Tahanan Village with the theme “Ganito Kami Noon, Ganito Kami Ngayon,” where club members made themed presentations representing eras from the 70’s to 2000.  After the presentations, each member gave his/her wish for the club.
