The children have earlier sent their Christmas “gift wish list” stating their names, ages, and desired gifts, which could be noche buena packages, shoes, toys, school supplies or garments. The lists were then posted on a make-shift tree displayed during RCMN’s club meetings. Any member may pick up any number of lists to fulfill the Christmas wish of the child.
It’s interesting to note that the favorite gift choice written in the small notes were noche buena packages and groceries. It’s a revelation that even children in the depressed areas are socially conscious. They could have opted for toys and dresses, as most children would, but instead, chose gifts that they can share with their families and loved.
Started in RY 2007-2008, during the term of IPP Joe Reaño, as a joint project with the Inner Wheel Club of Makati North and the Bgry. Sta. Cruz Rotary Community Corps, the “Make-a-Wish” Gift Giving program was so successful that Pres. Klink Ang and his Board decided to continue the project this year. |
