Medical, Dental and Feeding Mission
July 26, 2008, Saint Anthony School, San Andres, Singalong, Manila
By Pres Sweetie Gardiner, RC Muntinlupa Filinvest

(RC Muntinlupa Filinvest frequently conducts Medical, Dental and Feeding Missions as the Club's commitment towards the health improvement of its supported communities, specially of the children.  RCMF is making Dreams Real!)

We started at 8:30 am, but to our surprise after an hour, the crowd grew fast to 210 people, to think that we will be there till 12 noon. Nonetheless, it was a lot of fun because we had volunteer doctors from Saint Anthony School Alumni Association, nurses from Philippine Women’s University and dentists from the Philippine National Police (nice to see dentist cops than “Kotong” cops). In fact with a lot of warm bodies, we were able to accomplish things that would normally take more than a day.

While checking on the babies, parents, lolos and lolas, together with the other children were fed.  After feeding them, they were taught how to pray and thank God for the grace they were given. The mothers receive rice donations, while the elders got their free reading glasses.  Of course that’s aside from the regular vitamins and medicines, BP examination, ECG & eye check up etc. It was really along day but we don’t feel tired, seeing them with all smiles.

Thanks to our volunteer nurses from the PWU nad denstists from the PNP

And speaking of smile, we met a 2 week old baby boy named Christian Allan Astrero who has a clef palette (incidentally, we will be having a project called Sweet Smile on September, so watch out for it!).  Christian has a brother of about 4 to 5 years old whose face is swollen due to kidney problem.  If any of my classmates can help this young boy, please let me know.  As they say, LOVE and KINDNESS are never wasted.  They always make a difference.

Til the next project, au revoir!
